DBDON and ATC: Digital communities empowerment
On July 31, 2025, DBDON office, Nairobi, bringing together Ms. Jaqueline Chomba, Mr. Polycap Odhiambo from ATC Kenya and Rev. Fr. Selvam, Dr. Sam Ebale, and Mr. Michael Njeru from DBDON to discuss the implementation of DBDON’s innovative digital modality program. This initiative aims to enhance digital infrastructure and training across Don Bosco institutions in Kenya, with a focus on Don Bosco Boys Town, in partnership with ATC Kenya and Thintech Consulting.
The program will upgrade existing digital spaces by providing internet connectivity, network equipment, customer premise equipment (CPE), and bandwidth support. Essential devices, including TVs and virtual desktop infrastructure, will be supplied, alongside Wi-Fi access points and local network equipment to ensure seamless connectivity. This modality aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030, fostering digital inclusion and equitable access to technology.
Don Bosco Boys Town will serve as a hub for digital and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) programs, offering mentorship, certification, and comprehensive training. DBDON will monitor progress across all Don Bosco institutions and collaborate with ATC Kenya to ensure sustainable implementation. Thintech Consulting will supply eco-friendly digital equipment and facilitate training as per their agreement with Don Bosco Boys Town. They will also mobilize and recruit students, provide post-training follow-up, and host programs while aligning efforts with county economic plans.
This collaboration underscores DBDON’s commitment to empowering Kenyan youth with 21st-century skills, bridging the digital divide, and fostering innovation. By leveraging partnerships, the program will create job opportunities and support sustainable development, ensuring no one is left behind in Kenya’s digital revolution.
