The DBDON team joined the Shrine2Shrine pilgrimage walk, a fundraising initiative led by Fr. Sahaya G. Selvam, to raise funds for the Marian Shrine Spirituality Centre (MSSC). Covering 221 kilometers, the walk began at Subukia Shrine and concluded at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians(SMHC), Upper Hill, Nairobi.
On Monday, 23rd September 2024, Irene Waweru, DBDON Programmes Officer, joined the third day of the walk from Mary Mother of God Parish, Ol Kalau, to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, Manunga, covering 25 kilometers. John Mwaniki, DBDON Business Specialist, participated on Friday, 27th September2024, joining on day seven from Ngarariga, Limuru, to Don Bosco Youth Educational Services (DBYES), walking 26 kilometers.
On the final day of the walk, Dr. Sam Ebale, Coordinator DBDON, Bakhita Mariana, Accountant, and Nicole Choka, Media Services, joined the team for the 16km leg from Don Bosco Youth Educational Services (DBYES) to the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians (SMHC) in Upper Hill. Estones Adebe, Teaching Coordinator, joined the group at Kenyatta, while other staff members provided support in other capacities throughout the event.
The pilgrimage, held from 21st to 28th September, was organized to raise funds for the MSSC, which will be established at SMHC Upper Hill. DBDON team supported Fr. Selvam, their Executive Director, in his leadership of the initiative, while also showing solidarity with the entire Salesian fraternity.
At the conclusion of the walk, DBDON set up a stand at SMHC to showcase its ongoing projects and initiatives. At the stand was Geoffrey Muvenyi, Job Service Officer; Lawrence Mutiso, Teaching Assistant; Michael Njeru, Project Officer; and Jones Pamba, Logistics Officer. They engaged visitors highlighting DBDON’s impactful work.
