Fr George Tharanyil SDB
Originally from India has been serving in East Africa since 1986. He has an MBA degree from the prestigious Strathmore Business School. He is also a qualified Motor-Vehicle Mechanics trainer.
During the first 9 years of his priesthood, from 1996-2005, he served in the Don Bosco TVET Institute at Iringa, Tanzania. In the second block of 9 years, he served as the Provincial Economer, responsible for the management of financial resources and infrastructure for the Salesians of Don Bosco Eastern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan and Sudan). The third block of 9 years saw him set up and lead as its Executive Director, Don Bosco Tech Africa – the network of Don Bosco TVET centres, 113 of them across 41 countries in Africa.
In August 2023, he was appointed as the Provincial Superior of the Salesians of Don Bosco – Eastern Africa (Kenya, South Sudan and Sudan). In his capacity as the Provincial, he is also the chair of the Salesians of Don Bosco Trustees Kenya, and the Chair of the Board of DBDON.
