Enhancing job services

The Job Service Office (JSO) in Kenya coordinates placement and market linkages in five TVET institutions: Don Bosco Boys Town, Don Bosco Makuyu, Don Bosco Embu, Don Bosco Marsabit and Don Bosco Kakuma.

These five centers reach out to over 5000 students annually. Over the years, since the introduction of this office, the core responsibility of the JSO has been to ensure that the graduates are ready for the job market, amidst increasing the opportunities and linkages these graduates would need to be absorbed in the labor market.

Experiences gained by the national Job Service Officer indicate that the Salesian Education system is well acclaimed as one laden with necessary crucial life skills which not only make the graduates outstanding in their workplaces but also become an important element in the management of the tasks assigned to them in their workplaces.

Until May 2022, only the national Job Service Officer coordinated the activities of the office in the country. With assistance from DBTech Africa through the Global Project, the office expanded to include five job service officers, each stationed in the five technical schools in the country. The institution of the five Local JSOs was important to ensure that activities related to the office at the center level are managed more effectively.

Our dream is to enhance this service across Kenya even beyond our own graduates.
