The first batch of Form one students began in 1986. Along with the Secondary School, the management also worked hard to establish a Polytechnic to provide technical education. The students of the Polytechnic do their Grade 3 Trade Test at the end of one-year training, while the students of the Secondary do the same Trade Test at the end of Form 3. As a technical and secondary school, the center is involved in imparting skills to the needy young pupils both practical and theoretical.

As the years passed by, the institution grew up to contribute its share in nation-building. The technical and academic education that is imparted following the 8-4-4 system has certainly enabled many poor boys to find their rightful place in society.

All the secondary school students are boarders, while the students of polytechnic are day scholars and other boarders. Thus when a student completes his education at Don Bosco, he goes out with his KCSE certificate and a certificate in the trade test. The students are well empowered to face life with the learned technical skills after their studies.

At Don Bosco Embu the secondary school education empowers the students with the knowledge that is in line with the 8-4-4 Kenyan system of education. At the end of the course, the students are awarded a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate and later many of our students join Universities and colleges to pursue other courses.
